Christmas in Reepham wouldn't be the same without a visit from Santa. Despite the year we've had we've managed to persuade the big man himself to tour Reepham in a socially distanced manner. Listen out for us on the nights of Monday 21st and Tuesday the 22nd as we spread Christmas cheer around our town!

The first Coronavirus lockdown in March resulted in face to face Scouting being halted throughout the Spring and Summer. This was very disappointing not only for our group but for groups that were looking to Camp at our Headquarters and explore our beautiful countryside. For some city groups this slice of Norfolk provides a welcome change from the big city that some groups escape from.
During the Summer Neil (GSL) and Mark (AGSL) prepared and distributed activity bags to our Beaver, Cubs and Scouts. The activities included a wide range of activities from making 'armpit' fudge and ice cream to finding and identify bugs and leaves in the garden. All the activities in the bag were set to enable the children to gain skills for their badge requirements. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the local community and businesses for their support during this difficult time. From working with the young people, developing and delivering a balanced, challenging and rewarding programme, to back office roles where you'll make a massive difference to the group (without being face-to-face with the young people) we've opportunities to suit every volunteer's available time. We need people to help with the admin side of things for our sections, from maintaining records, taking minutes and some to help with our fund raising activities too. We've a number of sections that need more adults to support the weekly section meetings. We don't need an every week commitment, but we do need more adults involved so we can continue to get out and about maintaining our excellent and varied programme. If you can help, in any capacity, please get in touch: Email: [email protected] Tel: 07714 703734 (Neil) Thank you for helping us enrich young people's lives and providing them with amazing skills for life. In 2019 Norfolk Scouts formed a partnership with Nelson's Journey - a charity which supports bereaved children and young people - to launch 1st Smiles Scout Group. The death of a loved one can be one of the most isolating experiences a child has to go through and the 1st Smiles Group seeks to help out, by providing safe spaces to learn new skills, build their unique character and mix with others as they map out their new futures. The 1st Smiles Group, is open to all children referred to Nelson's Journey who are already involved in scouting or who would like to be. 2nd Reepham's Leadership Team would like to welcome 1st Smiles to their new home in Reepham and we are looking forward to working with them. Work on our new Henge Camp fire area has been progressing well despite the challenges of Covid. Our volunteers have been working in compliance with health restrictions to create a circular embankment to provide an exciting new amphitheatre to hold campfires, meetings and story telling.
Works are on target and due to be complete in early spring. The first of two imposing timber henge arches has been installed by Tom (Quartermaster). In the spring we hope to install the second arch and an all weather surface in the henge. It is also hoped that we can source suitable timber to create bench seating within the henge. We will also be inviting the children to design a story-telling chair for our Leaders to use during campfires
We have been working to refurbish our kitchen. The old wooden kitchen units have now been removed and the walls repainted.
We would like to thank Michael Black and Reepham Lions Club who have kindly donated a number of stainless steel units. These units will provide a more appropriate catering environment for our group. The kitchen will be up and running in the new year once a new floor surface has been laid and final plumbing and electrical work is completed. This upgraded facility will be a great asset for our group and visiting groups that often camp at the headquarters. We're really excited to see this photo which (we believe) shows 1st Reepham Scout group in the market place. We understand the group used to meet in the Scouts Club Room at the back of the garden in Hackford House - now known as the Bircham Centre. Watch this space as we learn more about this group.
Santa’s Sleigh starts at 6:30 and will cover the following:
Monday 16th December - Scouts Smugglers Lane, Sun Barn, Robins Lane and Kerdistan Road. Meet at scout hut 18:15 Tuesday 17th December - Cubs Bircham Road, Moorhouse and Irwin Close, Ollands Road and Market Place. Meet at Bircham Road 18:15 Wednesday 18th December - Beavers Richmond Rise, New Road, Crown Meadow and Stoney Lane. Meet at Richmond Rise 18:15 If you can't make the night that your child attends you will be more than welcome on either (or both) other nights. We'd love to have as many helpers as possible. Uniform is not essential as will probably be covered with a coat, the Reepham necker over the top is required. Parents or Guardians MUST accompany the children, we will of course be there as well. We hope to see as many of you as possible... We were so impressed by our incredibly smart young people who turned out to represent 2nd Reepham Scout group. Despite a rainy start to the day the weather held as we walked down from the scout hut to the market square to join the parade and march to the church. We received a number of very nice and positive comments of how well behaved and how smart the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts were - thank you you've made your parents, the leaders and Reepham proud of you.
